The Northeast Bronx — often referred to as Uptown by the community — is made up of neighborhoods like Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Woodlawn, Baychester, Eastchester, Edenwald, and Fish Bay. Each neighborhood brings its own rhythm and perspective, contributing to a broader, connected community.

Together, these areas reflect a shared sense of culture, accessibility, and tradition. It’s a part of the Bronx shaped by its diversity, where people continue to show up, stay connected, and move forward together.

The Best of City & Nature


Along this stretch of the Bronx, green space is part of everyday life. Shoelace Park offers long walking trails that people use for morning runs, quiet walks, and time by the water. Near 219th Street, the Bronx River opens up for canoeing, with calm sections that make it easy to spend time out on the water.

A short distance away, Seton Falls Park provides a quieter setting. With Rattlesnake Creek, a small waterfall, a pond, and a preserved bird sanctuary, it's a place where people come to slow down and take in the natural surroundings.

Moodie’s Records was a cultural institution on White Plains Road and a cornerstone of the Northeast Bronx community for decades. Its presence shaped how music, conversation, and community came together, leaving a lasting mark that continues to be recognized today with the renaming of 225th Street & White Plains Road to Earl Moodie’s Way, a reminder of his legacy.

White Plains Road, with its combination of major retailers and smaller businesses, has always provided a convenient shopping experience. Legacy Caribbean bakeries like Kingston Tropical Bakery, Champion Bakery, Cholo & Sons Bakery, and Green Garden Health Food Store remain staples in the community.

Stores such as SY Grace Caribbean West Indian Supermarket understand the cultural needs of the community and take pride in their give-back initiatives.

Housing is just as diverse, with communities like Edenwald Houses, Baychester Houses, Gun Hill Houses, and Boston Secor Houses alongside attached and detached homes — many that have been in families for generations.

The Bronx Collab Pep Rally

Beyond its work with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and local residents, The Bronx Collab is focused on strengthening the Bronx through shared experiences that center young people. Led by Coach Tea, the team has hosted events at Bronx Community Board 12, including the Back to School Pep Rally and the Just Write 500 Youth Campaign — both created with local youth in mind.

Through consistent programming and a steady presence in the neighborhood, The Bronx Collab continues to create spaces where young people can show up, take part, and stay connected to their community.

In the Northeast Bronx, there are steady spaces where people come together to stay informed and take part in what’s happening around the community. Meetings like the White Plains Road Neighborhood Plan, NAACP Williamsbridge, the 47th Precinct Community Council, Bronx Community Board 12, and the 222nd Street Block Association each play a role in keeping residents connected.

Through advocacy, public safety updates, neighborhood planning, and block-level conversations, these gatherings keep communication open. They create consistent opportunities for residents to stay involved, share input, and better understand what’s shaping the community.

The White Plains Road Neighborhood Plan brings together residents and stakeholders to shape the future of this vital corridor—addressing land use, economic development, and quality of life along one of the Bronx's most important thoroughfares.

The NAACP Williamsbridge Branch is a community anchor for civil rights advocacy, economic empowerment, and civic engagement in the Northeast Bronx.

The 47th Precinct Community Council connects residents with NYPD leadership—sharing crime statistics, neighborhood updates, and creating dialogue between law enforcement and the community.

Community Board 12 serves as the local advisory board for the Northeast Bronx, addressing land use, community services, and quality of life concerns for the district.

Honoring a Bronx Legend
Earl Moodie and Moodie's Records have been pillars of the Northeast Bronx community for decades, serving as a cultural hub and symbol of resilience. The renaming of 225th Street and White Plains Road to Earl Moodie's Way honors his lasting impact on music, community, and local pride.

The May 24, 2025 celebration of the Earl Moodie Street Renaming was a powerful reminder of his legacy. Thanks to Councilman Riley, his team, and the Moodie family, his legacy will continue to inspire generations in the Bronx.
