The Northeast Bronx—often called Uptown by the community —is made up of neighborhoods like Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Woodlawn, Baychester, Eastchester, Edenwald, and Fishbay. Each area has its own character, coming together to form a culturally diverse community.
Here, you get the best of both nature and city living. Shoelace Park offers long walking trails for morning jogs or relaxed walks on the weekend. The local kayaking area has calm waters for exploration and fun. Seton Falls Park is a peaceful escape, with Rattlesnake Creek, a waterfall, a pond, and the Seton Falls Park Preserve bird sanctuary. Farther north, Bissell Gardens invites everyone to enjoy community gardening, farmers markets, outdoor events, and a green space to connect with neighbors
Culture is everywhere - in the people, the food, and the stories that bring these neighborhoods together. You’ll find classic Caribbean restaurants alongside new family-run cafés, all reflecting the area’s rich heritage and growing creativity. Housing is just as diverse, with communities like Edenwald Houses, Baychester Houses, Gun Hill Houses, and Boston Secor Houses alongside attached and detached homes, many that have been in families for generations.
The Mall at Bay Plaza adds another anchor to the area, offering a wide range of stores, dining options, and services that make everyday shopping easy for families, youth, and the community..jpg?width=300&height=400&name=Nefer%20(2).jpg)

Transit access makes the area especially convenient. The 2 and 5 trains, Metro-North, and Bronx express buses offer easy routes into Manhattan and around the borough, supporting both local residents and commuters.
The Northeast Bronx is a place where community, culture, accessibility, and tradition come together—shaped by diversity and always moving toward what’s next. Sign up for our Strait Connect Newsletter to stay connected.

Legacy of Earl Moodie & Moodie’s Records
Honoring a Bronx Legend: The Legacy of Earl Moodie and Moodie’s RecordsEarl Moodie and Moodie's Records have been pillars of the Northeast Bronx community for decades, serving as a cultural hub and symbol of resilience. The May 24, 2025 celebration of Earl Moodie Street Renaming was a powerful reminder of his legacy. The renaming of 225th Street and White Plains Road to Earl Moodie’s Way honors his lasting impact on music, community, and local pride. Thanks to Councilman Riley, his team, and the Moodie family, his legacy will continue to inspire generations in the Bronx.
